Esther: Welcome back to the BusinessMakers overtime show, heard here and online at thebusinessmakers.com/overtime. I am Esther Steinfeld.

Katie: And I'm Katie Laird.

Esther: And we're here with Basya Bensushan. She is the chief blogging officer for an awesome new startup, it's called triMirror. Welcome to the show.

Basya: Thanks for having me.

Esther: So tell us a little bit about triMirror and what exactly you guys do.

Basya: Our motto is "Snap, Shop, and Share". Basically you take your smartphone shopping; right now we have an app for the iPhone and the Android, and we're coming out with an app for the BlackBerry. Basically you take your smartphone shopping and you take a picture and you send it to the live feed and in ten minutes the community will start telling you if you should buy the article of clothing or you take a picture of yourself in front of the mirror, you say, "This is what I'm wearing."

Katie: Awesome. And I really love triMirror so much because it's not just about being in a store and getting someone's opinion, although that's really powerful. But I love the element of, you know, sharing what you're wearing, asking for advice in accessorizing. It's so much fun to be able to see what people are doing, like looking into their mirror. You know, it's so cool.

Basya: I agree. Sometimes I have no idea; I think I look pretty good and sometimes I have no idea how I look through someone else's eyes. And just by posting my outfit on triMirror I get so much feedback. And sometimes it's very helpful; people will send me links for accessories I can wear next time I wear this certain shirt, or people find good deals for me.

Esther: That's pretty cool. How many people do you guys have in your community right now?

Basya: Okay, well right now we've been open for about two months, we have over 2,000 users.

Katie: Wow.

Esther: Pretty good.

Basya: Yeah, and it's international. I mean we have people from the States, we have people from Canada, we have people across Europe. It's a different crowd; you get style tips from people in Israel, you get style tips from people in the Ukraine. It's a good mix.

Esther: It's pretty cool. And I love it, because as we watch the trends of the Internet pretty much, you see that social shopping is really the next wave, where, you know, we have reviews and we have ratings and things like that. You know, you can read Epinions to get - you know, you really don't buy anything on the Internet anymore without getting feedback, but this is kind of a way to get instant feedback on like clothing and things that you personally will be wearing that day, which I think is a really innovative thing.

Basya: Yes, it's very helpful. And what I love about triMirror is it's very down-to-earth; it's for the everyday, average girl or boy. It's for the celebrity as well, but it's really for the people who wear jeans and a t-shirt, who wear a pencil skirt and button-down blouse to work and want to know how to add a little more funk to it. It's not necessarily your picture-perfect Cosmo girl. It's just life. It's how, you know, a mom on the go, a girl going to the club, it's a boy who has - someone posted today he's going to a modeling shoot, and he put himself in a little red Ed Hardy t-shirt and these cute little accessories and he goes, you know, "Do you think this is good enough to go to an interview to get a modeling job?" The community writes back really great feedback, whether he should change his hair a little or he looks great, funky-fresh.

Katie: [Laughs]

Esther: That's funny.

Katie: I like the funky fresh. So where is triMirror headed? I mean I love the social shopping and sharing element, but what are you guys thinking as far as like long-term. You're two months in. Where are you going?

Basya: Okay. Well first I'll tell you how we started. I imagine there's a lot of people doing this. You take an iPhone with your girlfriends and you see something while you're shopping and you snap a picture and you send it let's say to your mom or your sister or your girlfriend or your guy friend, whatever, and he'll tell you, the buyer, not to buy it. So in the beginning we really just have the agenda to have fun. We're taking advantage of technology. You know, it's a small crew right now and we're playing around a bit and we'll see where it goes later on down the road. But for now it's a lot of fun.

Esther: So I wonder what exactly does the title 'chief blogging officer' mean?

Basya: [Laughs] Okay, I'll tell-

Esther: That's your title, and I know that you are the chief Twitter feed operator as well. But what does the chief blogging officer do?

Basya: I'm not crazy about titles, and we all wear different hats. I'm really a ball of creative energy. I just put that up there for fun. I manage a lot of the blogs, I participate a lot with the pose, I have a lot of fun with my feed on Twitter. I post a lot of our users' posts onto Twitter and Facebook. But for the most part it's not really - I'm not into titles.

Esther: So I must say I hear a child in the background. I know you have a tiny baby at home, which brings me to another question. What's it like to be a mom and also kind of doing this innovative, creative job?

Basya: I love it. Before I had my baby I wasn't much of a sleeper. I'm very creative; I'm also an artist on the side and I hated to sleep. Now I appreciate a good nap, a good night's sleep.

Katie: Here here.

Basya: But it's good for me. I'm not - I can't be the type of woman - I like to be a stay-at-home mom, I like the fact that I can spend a lot of time with my daughter, but in between her naps and in between her playtimes I need to have something to do, and that's what I mean by we're just having a lot of fun right now. We're a bunch of people who have a little bit of time on our hands to mess around with this stuff.

Katie: And I love that triMirror is also very mobile, so it's like you don't even have to sit at your desk to do your work. It's perfect. [Laughs]

Basya: Yes.

Esther: See, this is a perfect tool for anybody, not just for the fashionista or, you know, someone who is a lot of different things.

Basya: Like I said, it's for down-to-earth, it's for the fashion - just everyone, you know. But there's a lot of girls out there blogging and they don't get heard, and I think this is a good place for a lot of the girls to show their fashion outfits, their fashion ideas, can all come together and kind of unite as friends on this site.

Katie: So I know that there's all sorts of freelancer like fashion designer wanna-be's, jewelry makers. Would triMirror serve as a good place for someone, you know, maybe a fashion entrepreneur to maybe share their designs, get feedback? Do you see any of that on the site?

Basya: For sure. The community right now does not respond to a lot of promotions. Like we'll have people who will put their promotions on; the community does not respond to that very well. But if you put it up as if like, you know, I've seen people put up their designs, like a skirt they made and they'll be like, 'What do you guys think? What should I add? What should I take away?" and the community loves that.

Katie: Nice.

Basya: And for sketches, I've seen a sketch or two up, and people really appreciate creative energy on the site. Yeah, it's very good. It's very good for that. Very good for - but not too over-promo, you know. Later on down the road we might have a section just for people, the small, small fashion startups, you know, to put their little bid in. But not right now; right now it's just people shopping and dressing and all that sort of jazz.

Katie: That's good.

Esther: Well where can they find triMirror.com, what's the Web site?

Basya: It's www.trimirror.com. It sounds trimirror.com. On your iPhone and Android you can find us in the shop just by typing 'trimirror'. That's where you can find us.

Esther: Wonderful. Well thank you so much for being here, Basya; we really appreciate it.

Basya: Thank you guys for having me and my baby, my baby and I on the show.

Esther: You're very welcome.

Katie: You're a stylish pair. A stylish pair.

Esther: Exactly.

Basya: Oh, I'll post her on the site. I'll put her as like Miss Thing's Outfit of the Day.

Esther: Cute.

Katie: Never too early on triMirror.

Esther: That's right. So coming up in chapter three, as we mentioned earlier in chapter one, we have got all the details, well actually not all the details, but some of the details about where you can go to find out how to win a free pass to Interactive Strategies conference. It's awesome, one of my favorite conferences of the year, marketing conference. You will get all the information in chapter 3. What do you think, Katie?

Katie: I think it sounds awesome.

Esther: You're listening to the BusinessMakers Overtime Show, heard here and online at thebusinessmakers.com/overtime. I'm Esther Steinfeld.

Katie: And I'm Katie Laird.

Esther: Stay tuned for chapter three.
