The BusinessMakers Overtime - Week of February 24, 2010: The Show for the Renaissance Man
Episode 031 originally broadcast on February 24, 2010
This week we were out at Block 7, the wine bar, with Sarah Gish, the founder of Gish Creative. Also the girls will discuss how people have started taking a lesson after their coupon cutting Moms and how one celebrity is none too happy with Southwest Airlines. Plus did Google finally mess something up with Google Buzz? Then later on Carl Kleimann stops in for a chat with Esther and Katie to talk about just how good of a multi-tasker do you think you.
Business News and Wine
Katie Laird and Esther Steinfeld dissect the week’s business news in a show recorded live from Block 7 Wine Co. and we’ve got WINE!! American Business is seeing a spike in the use of coupons—why now? Southwest Airlines is helping us focus on customer relations issues involving our larger colleagues. Microsoft Outlook is puffing up its social networking chest through a partnership that began with LinkedIn. Some of us aren’t happy with GoogleBuzz. (“It’s ripping apart what we think of as email.”)
Sarah Gish the Founder of Gish Creative
In the 10 years since she started her public relations and marketing firm, Sarah Gish has worked on a radically diverse group of assignments that includes graphic design, fundraising, publishing, awareness campaigns for non-profits and more. She blogs, writes movie reviews, develops workshops and creates art out of recycled materials. She calls herself an “infopreneur” and follows her own passions which, she says, attracts other passionate people. Katie and Esther interview this talented and energetic entrepreneur. (“P.R. is all about your contacts. And fudge.”)
Multi-Tasking (or not)
Katie and Esther take on the topic of multi-tasking. Do you multi-task? Do you really?! According to research from Stanford University, most people—even those who think they can—can’t. Carl Kleimann joins in a discussion that you should hear. (“How furrowed is the brow?!”)
