What would YOU do for Honey Buns?!

Katie Laird and Esther Steinfeld are on the road again, chowing down at Smashburger. In the news this week: Why, oh why, would Apple remove our beloved Get-a-Mac ads?! Prison inmates in Florida have been caught doing, well, entrepreneurial things in return for Honey Buns. Crocs is going trendy. And something new! (“Remember the Jibbitz?”)

Seeking Mr. Right

Most successful entrepreneurs will tell you that starting a business requires passion. Today’s guest could not agree more. Passion is a biggie; she also believes that integrity is important, and she trusts her own instincts when it comes to finding “a good egg.” Katie interviews Nina Friedman, a professional matchmaker. (“So many people just don’t pay attention.”)

American Brands in Foreign Lands

Katie and Esther consider the story of Mister Softee Ice Cream in China. What could be a simpler product for international expansion than ice cream, right? Well, no. Think of the cultural implications inherent in our flavors—ice cream sold from a truck? Ebay Russia has issues too; let’s blame it on the postal workers. (“Their best selling flavor is Red Bean Blast.”)
