The BusinessMakers Overtime - Week of November 18, 2009: Keeping Your Company Safe!
Episode 017 originally broadcast on November 18, 2009
What are the business benefits for the legalization of marijuana? The girls will discuss how states and the country as a whole can profit from the taxation of this plant. Also apparently Kraft is just short of brute force in their take over of Cadbury but Verizon is not shy of using a few dirty tricks to get some extra moola. Then Katie will talk with Chris Portillo of Safety Vision on how their vehicle mounted camera's are making it safer for the driver and other people on the road. And to wrap things up Esther and Katie will give you a few tips on how to keep your work environment safe.
Pot tax, food fights and dirty tactics!
Katie Laird and Esther Steinfeld dissect the week’s business news. The AMA wants us to change our view of marijuana. If California could tax pot revenue, there would BE no budget problems! Kraft wants Cadbury in the worst way—FOOD FIGHT! Verizon has stooped to dirty tactics. (“How can anyone be anti-customer service in today’s economy?!”) Cameras at traffic intersections are not such a win-win for consumers.
Keep an eye on it!
Katie interviews Chris Portillo, senior marketing communications specialist for Safety Vision, a global mobile video technology company. Transit buses, police cars, FedEx trucks all have security or back-up cameras supplied by Safety Vision. It’s all about paying attention and staying in motion. (“In such a high-tech industry, if you lag, you’re lost!”)
How do you measure safety?
Other than security cameras in your delivery trucks, what else can you do to increase security in your company? Have you thought about your company culture and how you use technology? Katie and Esther offer several ideas in areas you may not have thought of. You want to increase security? LIVE it! Sometimes it’s the collective numbers that tell the story.
