Women Mean Business host Leisa Holland-Nelson, president of ContentActive, interviews Jacqueline Northcut, president and CEO of BioHouston Inc.
Leisa: Hello. I'm Leisa Holland-Nelson and welcome to another edition of Women Mean Business where we're going to take you up close and personal with extraordinary women doing extraordinary things. My guest today is Jacqueline Northcutt, CEO of Bio Houston. Jacqueline, tell us about Bio Houston.
Jacqueline: Bio Houston is a non-profit organization focused on developing the bio-technology industry here. So think about this, Leisa. We're sitting in the Texas Medical Center, the largest medical center in the world. A lot of people think of it as a place for clinical care. The other thing that goes on is a lot of research. In fact we're third in the nation. That research ultimately turns into products, drugs and devices that help human life basically. At some point there has to be a handoff from the institution into a company. Historically, that handoff has gone to companies outside the state of Texas. Our mission is to stop that and to keep the jobs and the economic benefit related to the development of those products here in Houston.
Leisa: That is terrific. Thank you very much. There you have it. Another extraordinary woman doing extraordinary things. I'm Leisa Holland-Nelson, President and Chief Marketing Officer of Content Active, Houston's leading Web and mobile technology company. You can find me at ContentActive.com or follow me on Twitter @LHNelson. We'll be back again next week with another edition of Women Mean Business.
