Computer Visionary Steve Wozniak of Apple Computers
For his sixth grade science fair project, Steve Wozniak built a machine that played Tic-Tac-Toe. During the 1960s, at a time when a single computer occupied the space of an entire room, he was designing minicomputers for companies like Hewlett Packard and IBM. Microprocessors were tiny and they were cheap - Wozniak started using them to build his own computers. A few years later, he and Steve Jobs founded Apple Computer. Steve Jobs wanted to make a "ready to use" computer; Woz made it all work. And the rest is history - literally!
Brad Burke, of The Rice Alliance
Brad Burke, managing director of the Rice Alliance, introduces its upcoming Rice University Business Plan Competition to be held in April 2008. Thirty-six teams from around the world will compete for $600,000 in prizes, making this event the largest and richest competition of its kind in the U.S.
