Two years ago, Andrew Smith, along with a team of fellow students at Dartmouth College's Tuck School of Business, was the Grand Prize winner in the Rice University Business Plan Competition in Houston, TX. Today, Smith's San Francisco-based company produces a patented product, the Trailer Tail, which increases the fuel efficiency of long-haul trucking fleets. That may not sound very glamorous - but this product can reduce fleet diesel consumption by more than 200 million gallons annually!
