Summary:
On June 10, 2006 a unique event was held in Houston called BarCamp, the businessmakers show was there doing another on site interview session. Barcamp is a part of a growing trend and challenge to the traditional conference called unconferences. What is an unconference? An unconference is a free unstructures conference where the content and is driven completely by the attendees rather than one central organizer. While this may seem absolutely insane to the casual observer, Barcamps and other uncoferences like BrainJam have gained popularity because of their ability to replicate the "in-the-hallway" engery and discussion that happens at traditional conferences. In, fact the unconference idea has become so popular that Business 2.0 recently did a feature story on the topic. Barcamp Houston which was hosted by Erica O'Grady, Marc Nathan, Kelsey Ruger & Chris Massey. BarCamp was well attended and should spark lots of new business and technology ideas in the coming months.
