Russ reports from an on-the-road interview in Memphis, TN with visionary Fred Smith, the founder, chairman & CEO of FedEx Corp.; and Rob Carter, chief information officer of FedEx. Smith founded his transportation/technology company in 1971 at a time when mainframe computers were becoming more popular and logistics potential was poised to explode. Carter says he has the “dream job in the CIO world,” citing corporate culture, available technology and growing the company to a global powerhouse. Today, they continue to focus this customer-centric company on “absolute zero” failure during this time of exponential growth.
