Episode 81: Rice Alliance Elevator Pitches Part 1
We recently got a chance to attend the 4th annual Rice Alliance Information Technology Venture Forum. During this event Rice invited 30 to 40 emerging IT companies give an “elevator pitch” to local venture capitalists who are considering investing. So what is an elevator pitch anyway?
An elevator pitch is a brief overview of a business, product, service or project. It’s called an elevator pitch because it can be delivered in the span of an elevator ride. It sounds simple but a good elevator pitch is short, impactful and leaves the listener with a solid idea of what your idea is about.
Venture capitalists often judge the quality of an idea and team on the basis of the quality of its elevator pitch, and will ask entrepreneurs for the elevator pitch so to quickly weed out bad ideas.
Today John and Russ discuss the top 3 pitches from POP Broadcasting, Vault X Technologies and Vnet World Inc. - but you can hear them all here on the site. The first 18 are here. Check out Part 2 and Part 3 of the Rice Alliance Elevator Pitches to hear the rest.
